CAN ALL THE BLAME for the Lakers turning into cellar-dweller be laid at the feet of Jim Buss? No. But it was apparent years ago and long before the Laker started their current dark slide into irrelevance that Jim Buss was dangerously incompetent at his job.
Anyone who inherits daddy’s business better be damn good at their job or torches will be lit. With Jim Buss, he was everyone’s nepotism nightmare – an incompetent, inarticulate dope and just plain awful at picking talent. He seemed no more self-aware of his ineptness than Ron Burgundy.
